Low End Activist // Just A Number
(Sneaker Social Club)
The Activist’s new album Municipal Dreams is led up front by ‘Just A Number’, given the visual treatment by Fleur Adderley.
Low End Activist has always made a point of reflecting on his roots in a council estate on the outskirts of Oxford. Adding social commentary to his needlepoint sound design and hardcore-rooted bass ructions, this is club music crafted with an experiential intention, and he’s gone even deeper in on themes of inequality and short-sighted policies through the lens of the ends he calls home. It’s a knockout effort shot through with samples that take you right into the story without cheapening the impact.
