Sectra // Horrid & Dejected feat. Dis Fig
(Tectonic)
Knotty, punk-laced bassweight sonics from a new signing for Tectonic.
Without making a big deal about it, Tectonic has evolved from its club-focused roots into the maturity of a broadminded indie label. Pinch’s dubstep stable was a totem of the genre during the breakout years of the 00s, but it was always looking beyond the purist demands of the dancefloor with signings like Pursuit Grooves. In 2025, Tectonic seems at ease with a role platforming album-oriented artists taking a wideangled approach to soundsystem sonics.
US producer Jon Linskey has been working as Sectra for some eight years, scattering releases on labels like Encrypted Audio and Brighton-based DNO. Now he’s following up a previous 12″ for Tectonic with Through The Static, a fully rendered album trip caked in textural sound design that should appeal to crunchy electronica heads (think the vibe of SDEM’s IO Mix) as well as open-eared bass freaks navigating the borderless realm dubstep dropped them in.
The album is headed up by the ‘Horrid & Dejected’ single, which features Dis Fig on vocal duties. Dis Fig, aka Felicia Chen, is no stranger to experimental bass exploits, having created her own sharp-toothed works and collaborated with the likes of The Bug (their 2020 album In Blue is a must). Get a feel for one of Through The Static‘s many layers by checking Lorem’s video for the track. The full album release drops today (January 31) – cop it here.
